What is your favourite thing about working at Green-tech and how long have you worked here?
I started at Green-Tech in August 2006 so entering my 16th year of service, some have had less for murder! The best thing about working at Green-Tech which you will probably hear a lot is the people, we are a very social bunch who see each other a lot outside of work.
What made you want to work in the landscaping industry?
Before Green-Tech I was the head baker at my local Sainsbury’s store. Gilly got me an interview after someone had left, we knew each other from school and I used to moan a lot to him about getting up at 2am in the morning to go make bread. Working in landscaping had never even crossed my mind until then.
What is your favourite memory at Green-tech?
A long, long time ago one of our sales guys used to love his protein shakes and going to the gym, so much so he entered a caption competition on a web site he subscribed to for buff juice (protein powder). It turns out he won the competition so they were sending him a 10kg box of frozen chicken!! Well… the box turned up while he was on lunch so we all thought it would be a good idea to pop round the local farm, borrow a live chicken and do a little switcheroo (ensuring there were plenty of airholes so the chicken could breathe). Let’s just say he got one hell of a fright and legged it out of the office after opening the box!
Where would you say is a dream holiday destination for you?
I enjoy my horse racing so one day I would love to try and get over to the Dubai World Cup or Breeders Cup. I would also like to take my son to Walt Disney World in Florida.
Who is your role model or inspiration?
I would have to say my inspiration is my son Lucas, he turns 6 next month and it is so rewarding watching him develop and learn. It is quite remarkable how he has gone from a babbling mess into a highly skilled negotiator!
What is your favourite landscaping show or event to attend or that you have attended?
The BALI Awards or Beast In The East Go-Karting
How do you like to spend your free time?
My son Lucas plays football on a Saturday morning so I like to go along and watch him play, I took him to his first football match last week at Anfield (he is a big Mo Salah fan).
Name 3 dream dinner guests?
Christopher Wallace (Notorious B.I.G), Roberto Baggio and Lenoardo Da Vinci
If you were stuck on a desert island what 3 objects would you take with you?
A football, golf clubs and a ghetto blaster
Which do you prefer- Rural or urban landscapes?
Rural, I could happily sit and look at the Matterhorn mountain landscape all day.
What is your favourite project that Green-tech have been involved in?
The A1 highway improvement, sounds very dull I know however it is a job I have been involved with from 2009 to 2019 where we have supplied over 500,000 tubes and stakes amongst other products on various phases. I drive through the project regularly so it has been good to see it develop over the years.
Who is the funniest person at Green-tech?
Wexy!! The guy is an absolute loon!
