What is your favourite thing about working at Green-tech and how long have you worked here?
There a number of great things about working here, the people and the gatherings are great. My favourite thing here is the variation, having a team of 9 people to manage and each doing something a little bit different makes managing the team far more interesting and no two days tend to be the same.
I’ve been with Green-tech for 15 years, been part of the GT journey over this time has been great and to know I’ve played a big part in getting to where are now is a top achievement.
What made you want to work in the landscaping industry?
I never actually intended to get into the landscaping industry, I found myself at a time where I was looking for my first “proper” job at the age of 18, and came across Green-tech completely by chance. I was simply given the number for the office, said to speak with Richard Kay as there might be a job, and then 15 years later, here I still am and have not looked back.
What is your favourite memory at Green-tech?
After all these years at GT, there are far too many to choose from. There have been loads of excellent social events which usually involve some kind of hilarious form for entertainment and an endless amount of office pranks.
The move to Rabbit Hill was a massive moment for the company and a huge step forward, but I think that my own favorite memory needs to be all of the people who I’ve worked with in the past and those that are currently at GT. They all make it a great place to be in their own way, and I’ve learnt a lot from the people who’ve helped get me where I am today. For that, I will always be grateful for.
Where would you say is a dream holiday destination for you?
Usually somewhere hot and just soak up the sun, but spending a few months touring America and seeing as many sites as possible would be a great thing to do.
What is your favourite landscaping show or event to attend or that you have attended?
The BALI awards in London, these have to be the favourite. It’s the highlight of the year and a great way to cap off the hard work of the industry as a whole and a chance to see a number of projects which we have had the chance to supply. Though getting lumbered with the tab for the table was not a particular highlight….
Which do you prefer- Rural or urban landscapes?
Rural Landscapes, it’s great to get out and about and explore areas. Living in Yorkshire we have some fantastic countryside and it’s a shame to not enjoy it !
What is your favourite project that Green-tech have been involved in?
There have been so many over the years, supplying over 20,000 of our Mona units for an export project was great to be involved in.
The standout scheme was supplying the A14 at Cambridge with 800,000 Tubex guards, a lot of work went into that project and whenever we head down that way on the road, it is great to see what we have supplied.
